LO: to find out 5 facts about a photorealist artist and to practise sketching

Year 5 looked a photorealism, in particular the art of Steve Mills. They found out 5 facts about him, including that he sold his first painting at the age of 11. They found it interesting to see that paintingsd could look so realistic – were they photographs or were they paintings? They then had a go at practising their sketching and shading skills.

Lo: to create a Victorian Pin- prick Christmas card

To finish off the Victorian Christmas work that we have been doing over the last few weeks, the children created their own Victorian Pin – prick Christmas cards. They chose their design, folded card in half and using a drawing pin and template followed along the outline. They then finished it off with a ribbon. They are very effective, especially if held up to the light.

LO: to follow a design to create a Victorian gift

Year 5 started their Victorian gift creations. Some children started choosing card and designs to decoupage a design to make the cover of a scrapbook. The other group of children, cut out gift bag templates. they then used the template to cut out their felt gift bag. They also chose a pattern as decoration and cut that out too.
