Year 5 contained with creating their own illusion artwork, but this time they traced around their hand, drew in lines and added colour to create their illusions. They are starting to take shape nicely.

Year 5 looked at a variety of illusion art work. They were then given a template to use to create their own illusion by using 2 different colours.

LO: to add shading to a 3D illusion sketch.

Year 5 continued with their 3D illusion sketches. They used different sketching pencils to add shading and had a go a sketching a different illusion.

LO: explore how artists create illusions by playing with perspective.

Year 5 looked at how artists create illusions.They looked at a Honda advertisement and how the creators used illusion to create it. They then used iPads to sketch their own illusions- Pensrose stairs, impossible triangle or a trident. They then used a sketching pencil to add shading.

LO: to find out 5 facts about a photorealist artist and to practise sketching

Year 5 looked a photorealism, in particular the art of Steve Mills. They found out 5 facts about him, including that he sold his first painting at the age of 11. They found it interesting to see that paintingsd could look so realistic – were they photographs or were they paintings? They then had a go at practising their sketching and shading skills.

Year 5 continued with their work on using foreshortening when sketching a superhero. They completed their sketches,adding colour and some children had a go at sketching their own superhero.

Year 5 continued with their work on perspective. This time,they looked at foreshortening and how artists use this technique to give the impression that the character is moving directly towards the viewer. They then had a go at sketching a superhero character using guidelines and foreshortening.

Lo: to create a Victorian Pin- prick Christmas card

To finish off the Victorian Christmas work that we have been doing over the last few weeks, the children created their own Victorian Pin – prick Christmas cards. They chose their design, folded card in half and using a drawing pin and template followed along the outline. They then finished it off with a ribbon. They are very effective, especially if held up to the light.

Year 5 continued with their Victorian gift creations. The front cover of their scrapbooks were completed. The next step is to create the scrapbook. The gift bags are also coming along nicely. The children have almost completed their decoration and sewing.

Year 5 started their Victorian gift creations. Some children started choosing card and designs to decoupage a design to make the cover of a scrapbook. The other group of children, cut out gift bag templates. they then used the template to cut out their felt gift bag. They also chose a pattern as decoration and cut that out too.
