Year 5 looked at a variety of Monet’s landscapes, discussing his style in each one. They then carefully painted a chosen landscape using the short quick brushstrokes used in impressionist paintings.

Year 5 started a new topic.They looked at some of the work of Claude Monet, watched a video and took notes which they used to create a journal fact file about him and his life.

Year 5 continued with their collages, creating some lovely designs. Well done year 5 .

Year 5 looked at some of Camille Walala’s work and what inspires her. They also looked at how she works and collects ideas in her little sketchbooks. They looked a collaboration she did with Lego a few years ago. They then started looking at their prints and started to cut them out , added blocks of solid colour in different shapes as well as some stickers to to add to their collages.

Year 5 continued with their block printing. They will used their work to create a collage inspired by the work of Camille Walala.

Year 5 used pre- cut Lino printing blocks to print different designs. They used a variety of designs and colours to create print.

Year 5 took great care with their tessellations, carefully choosing different colour combinations and ensuring that there were no gaps in between each shape. They look so effective. Well done Year 5.

Year 5 looked at Escher’s tessellations and examples of his work. They discussed what a tessellation is. They then looked at how to create their own tessellations using squared paper. They did find this a little tricky initially. their tessellations are starting to take shape.

Year 5 found out facts about Escher and his work with tessellations. They produced a journal to record facts and there were amazed at how he created his different tessellations

Year 5 completed their hand illusion work. They look so effective.
